Share My Calendar is a free, smart, and easy way to promote your venues unbooked rental times.
This is how a published calendar looks:
Depending on calendar software (Google, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.) there are different steps to generating the iCalendar feeds used to upload to Share My Calendar, however the whole process only takes about 2-3 minutes and these are all the benefits you will reap:
Attract new renters
Renters searching by availability are matched to your listing when your calendar shows space as available. This is a great way for new renters to discover your space.
Promote last minute openings
Calendars uploaded to SpaceFinder refresh automatically once day. Many venues post last minute openings of availability on social media, pretty hit or miss in terms of effective marketing, Share My Calendar is a way to automatically connect with renters actively looking for space, including any last minute openings, on a daily basis. Once a day your update inventory is released into the SpaceFinder marketplace.
Boost your ranking in search results
Listings with calendars provide renters the convenience of viewing availability and are therefore rewarded with a boost in search results.
Display unbooked times, not booking details
Renters only see colored blocks of time on your calendar as Available or Not Available. No details of your booking are displayed in the calendar. This makes it easy to maintain privacy around who else has booked your space, while also marketing your unbooked times.
Show recurring events
Share My Calendar supports recurring events. It does not support all day events. If a venue has an all day event, you should NOT edit these events to have a specific start and end time because it will not appear on the calendar. You should create new events with a specific start and end time in their place. If a renter has booked the space for all hours for a period of time, you can create an event that starts at the date and time of the rental and continues until the ending date and time. This will cause every hour of the space to be booked during that time
Combine more than one calendar
If you use multiple calendars to keep track of different types of activities in your space (i.e. classes, events, rehearsals) you can combine as many icalendar feeds as needed to reflect availability in a space.
Say "sorry" less, and "yes" more
By displaying availability you reduce time spend saying "sorry, I don't have space at that date and time", and increase your time spent saying "yes, that time is open for booking" to renters who are matched to you based on availability.
