What is Directors and Officers Liability Insurance?
Directors and officers liability insurance, commonly referred to as D&O, offers your individual directors (high-level staff of your organization) and officers (board members) the protection they need from personal liability and financial loss arising out of wrongful acts they commit in their capacity as officers and/or directors.
Example of a D&O Claim:
If the executive director of your organization runs off with the company's money, your D&O policy will cover the board members and other high-level staff in the event that they are sued. You can also elect to include employment practices coverage in the policy, which insures things like sexual harassment, discrimination, and wrongful termination suits.
