Application Requirements and Details
Federal funders such as the National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) and National Science Foundation (NSF) often have complicated application processes that will require time-intensive work from both you, as the artist, and Fractured Atlas, as the fiscal sponsor. Because of the labor involved, we have special requirements in place for the review and approval process.
DUE TO ELIGIBILITY CHANGES, AS OF 2021, FRACTURED ATLAS'S FISCALLY SPONSORED PROJECTS ARE NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR NEH AND NSF FUNDING.
The below information is for historical purposes only:
Procedures:
-
Materials must be submitted to support@fracturedatlas.org at least one month before the application due date.
-
We ask that projects speak directly with the funder to confirm the eligibility of the project and proposed activities.
-
Some federal funders provide an initial review by their staff prior to submission. We require projects to take advantage of such opportunities prior to review by Fractured Atlas.
- Our standard grant process usually involves about an hour of our staff's time to complete review. For complicated grant applications, please note that we charge $50/hour after the first hour of review.
Rush Requests
-
If your project has met our grant eligibility requirement and have worked with the funder’s staff to determine that you're a good fit after having reviewed your proposal, an expedited timeframe may be negotiated.
- There is a $75 rush fee for any materials submitted less than one month before the grant deadline.
Important Info Regarding the National Endowment for the Humanities
-
NEH often requires a 1-to-1 match for the requested donation amount. Meaning, if you are requesting $100,000, your project must have raised $100,000 in the past or have this amount committed from other sources.
- If awarded, NEH requires reports for 7 years after the contract dates, all of which need to be submitted by FA. This means that you'll need to be prepared to work with us on this grant for at least 7 years.
