Note that we will be discontinuing our Artful.ly ticketing and CRM service effective July 31, 2020. Here's more info about this decision and what it entails.
Artful.ly gives you a downloadable CSV template, this means "Comma Separated Values," and is a file format that's universally accepted by most spreadsheet applications. This can be filled in with your fans' emails, addresses, event attendance, past donations, and more. Then, the template can be imported into Artful.ly, which will create People records for each of individuals or companies on your list.
In order to format your file correctly for importing, you need to be able to view and edit the CSV file in a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel. If you have Excel on your computer, it will probably be the default program for reading CSV files.
I don't have Excel...
If you don't have Excel software in your computer, don't worry. There are plenty of other tools you can use to format a CSV file for your import, such as:
- Google Drive (free!)
- Open Office
- Numbers (for Macs)
- A list of all sorts of spreadsheet software on Wikipedia (that also includes Microsoft Office for PC and Mac)
Pretty much any spreadsheet tool will let you read and edit a CSV file. And when you're done adding all your contacts, remember to save your spreadsheet as a CSV file type so Artful.ly can read it when you import it.
