Membership, Subscription, Season Supporter, Friend of the Theater—memberships can mean something completely different depending on the organization. For Artful.ly, we've designed two membership paradigms to cover a variety of business strategies.
Artful.ly membership features allow you to:
- Create and sell multiple membership types (or levels) with different names, price points, and benefits
- Sell member-only ticket types with special member pricing
- Make events or shows only visible to logged in members
- Sell tickets to members before they go on sale to the general public
- Offer special membership renewal pricing
Two Flavors of Membership
To accommodate a wide range of business rules, we've structured memberships into two flexible types:
Season: Members sign up and receive benefits for your theatrical season, a calendar year, or some other term with a fixed end date. Sign-ups and renewals are focused at a certain time of year.
Rolling: Members sign up and receive benefits for a number of months or years from their sign-up date. Members can start at any time and renewal takes place whenever an individual's membership expires.
Tickets to Multiple Shows
Memberships might not be the right solution for every organization. Patrons can also buy tickets to multiple shows though Passes. To learn more about the differences, take a look at our article Memberships v Passes.
Tax Deductibility for 501(c)(3) Organizations
Organizations that have their own 501(c)(3) status can issue tax receipts for memberships based on their own business rules.
Tax Deductibility for Fractured Atlas Fiscally Sponsored Projects
Fractured Atlas fiscally sponsored projects may sell memberships, but the purchase is not tax deductible for your fans. The funds from membership sales are deposited directly into your organization's bank account, rather than your sponsored fund. Membership revenue does not count for your grant-eligibility requirement.
Patrons do have the option to add a tax-deductible donation on top of a membership purchase, and sponsored projects may also use the Donation Widget or Wordpress Plugin.
However, we plan to build features to do this soon. If you would like these features for your organization, please vote for it in our Feature Request forum: Allow fiscally sponsored projects to sell tax-deductible tickets, memberships, and passes.
