Donation received from an unknown donor or funder

Did you receive a donation alert email that you weren't expecting? If we've processed a contribution or grant and you do not recognize the name of the donor or funder, it's very likely that the donation was not intended for your project. 

Donors sometimes make mistakes. Institutional funders sometimes send us checks with confusing instructions.

It's your responsibility to alert us to this BEFORE you disburse funds.

As you may already know, we hold all donated funds for seven calendar days before they are made available for disbursement for project-related expenses. Not all donor mistakes or processing errors are caught within this seven day period. If you disburse funds that were not intended for your fiscally-sponsored project, we will require that you return these funds to us in order to resolve the situation.
