Residency Status

Why are you asking about my residency status?

We ask about U.S. citizenship or residency status for tax reporting purposes. Grant income to U.S. Citizens, Resident Aliens, and the business entities that they own is reported one way (on a 1099-MISC to Individuals/Sole-Proprietors and LLCs). Grant income to Nonresident Aliens is reported differently.

If you're a Nonresident Alien applying for our fiscal sponsorship program, we will ask you to complete a version of IRS Form W-8. 

If all of your project activities are happening entirely outside of the United States, you will be asked to complete Form W-8BEN.

If any part of your project is happening within the United States, you will be asked to complete Form W-8ECI.
