Fractured Atlas projects frequently run auctions as part of their fundraising events.
Partial-deductibility
It's possible for silent auction bids to partially tax-deductible if the winning bid is above the value of the item won by your patron. For example, if a donor bids $80 on an item valued at $50, $30 of that bid can be considered tax-deductible. We encourage projects to list the values of the items at the silent auction table, so donors are aware of the value when making bids.
Donation Payment is by Check
If the winning bid is greater than the value of the item, the donor can write a check payable to Fractured Atlas, which can then be reported with the correct non-deductible amount and sent to Fractured Atlas to be processed.
Things to be aware of:
- There's no simple way to conduct a silent auction by credit card, so we discourage our projects from trying to do so. If they like, they can receive payment directly by credit card for silent auction items, but it won't be considered tax-deductible.
- Fractured Atlas is not compatible with online silent auction platforms.
- We ask that you contact us at support@fracturedatlas.org before taking on a silent auction if you have questions on how to conduct one.
